WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -Mid-State Technical College celebrated the achievements of 45 Nursing program graduates in a pinning ceremony on December 16. The event took place on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus, with graduates joined by family and friends.
This year’s ceremony was special as the Nursing program was recently ranked the top RN program in Wisconsin for 2026 by RegisteredNursing.org. The program was praised for its strong student outcomes, innovative hybrid learning model, and perfect NCLEX pass rate in 2024.
“The Nursing program has challenged me and helped me learn more than I thought was possible in just two years,” said Sofia Billman of Plover. She will work as a Registered Nurse at the Aspirus Wausau Birthing Center. “I learned how to think critically, stay organized and prioritize what matters most.”
Kelly Nelson, dean of the School of Nursing, highlighted the significance of the ceremony. “The Mid-State Technical College nursing pinning ceremony is a celebration that signifies the completion of the nursing program, honors the graduates’ hard work and officially welcomes them into the nursing profession,” Nelson said.
Billman also expressed her passion for nursing. “Helping people has always felt natural to me. I’ve also always loved science and problem-solving, so nursing felt like the perfect place to bring all my strengths together,” she said.
