Clinton Mayotte
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids man will serve prison time for one count of attempted homicide.
Clinton Mayotte will serve 35 years in the state prison system, including 35 years behind bars and ten years on extended supervision. He entered a no contest plea to the count in September, in exchange numerous other counts were dismissed.
The 41-year-old was involved in a domestic disturbance in Wisconsin Rapids that occurred in August 2024. When first responders arrived, Mayotte had already left the scene.
Officers caught up to him in Portage County, but he fled the scene and returned to Wisconsin Rapids, where officers disabled his vehicle. He fled to the top of a downtown building, leading to a standoff with police.
He was injured by police in an exchange of gunfire and hospitalized. Since then, he’s been held on a $2.1 million cash bond.
Additional terms of his sentence include $5,600 in restitution to cover repairs to a Wood County squad car, which was damaged in the incident. He will also pay court costs and complete a domestic violence assessment.
Mayotte was given credit for nearly 500 days already served in jail while awaiting trial.
