Nicholas Multani
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Sentencing has been delayed for a 20-year-old Wausau man who pleaded guilty to a pair of firearms-related charges stemming from a 2023 shooting incident.
Nicholas Multani was due for sentencing at 2:00 PM on Monday after pleading guilty to recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. But court records show sentencing has been delayed, with a scheduling conference set for October 14th.
No reason for the delay was given.
Multani was 17 when investigators said he fired a gun during an argument with someone near a home on 3rd Avenue. No one was injured in the incident, and Multani fled the scene before officers arrived.
He was immediately named a suspect but remained at large for almost two months. Officers eventually caught up to him during a well-being check in Racine, where he was passed out in a vehicle.
The sentence is part of a plea deal struck last summer. In exchange for the two guilty pleas, two other felony counts for recklessly endangering safety were dismissed but read into the record, meaning the judge can consider them at sentencing.
He faces up to 20 years in prison on the counts.
