MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — An Irma man who resisted officers during a routine traffic stop in June has been fined for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.
Dustin Young pleaded guilty to the count during a court appearance on Wednesday and was fined $500 plus court costs.
Charges stemmed from a traffic stop in the Town of Birch. Officers spotted Young driving without license plates, noting that he quickly became “agitated and confrontational,” during the stop. The officer called for backup, and Young continued to defy orders.
Officers eventually deployed tasers to bring him under control and take him into custody.
Young’s children were in the car at the time of the incident. They were turned over to a responsible party after he was arrested.
