MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers won their 12th straight game on Wednesday with a 12-5 thrashing of the Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field.
The Brewers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in this one as Brandon Woodruff tossed four shutout innings. He was pulled after only 65 pitches and the Pirates rallied with three runs against Shelby Miller and two off Nick Mears.
Milwaukee responded adding six unanswered runs in the 6th and 7th innings to pull away.
The Brewers banged out 12 hits. William Contreras had four RBIs and Christian Yelich had three. Sal Frelick and Joey Ortiz drove in two each and Issac Collins added a solo RBI.
The Brewers are 7 1/2 games up on the Chicago Cubs in the NL’s Central Division. They have Thursday off before hitting the road beginning Friday in Cincinnati.
