Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A solo home run from Isacc Collins in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 7-6 win over the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon at American Family Field.
It was Milwaukee’s ninth straight win.
The Brewers were down 5-0 in the 4th inning when their rally began. William Contreras hit the first of two home runs on the day, a solo shot off Mets started Sean Manea. Milwaukee added two more runs in the inning on a two-run single from Joey Ortiz.
The Mets added a run in the fifth but Milwaukee responded with two runs in their half of the innings when Contreras hit a two-run shot. Ortiz came through again with a two-out RBI single in the 8th inning that tied the game.
That set the stage for Collins who led off the 9th with the game winner off Mets closer Edwin Diaz. Nick Mears picked up the win for the Brewers in relief.
Milwaukee continues to have the best record in baseball at 73-44 and will begin a series with Pittsburgh tonight at American Family Field. Pre-game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
