WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Longtime Wausau City Councilman Gary Gisselman has died. He was 82.
Gisselman served on the City Council from 2006 to 2020, and served again from 2022 until his death. He was also a member of the Marathon County Board of Supervisors.
He died on August 9th of natural causes at his home.
Gisselman was a long-serving member of the Wausau Historic Preservation Commission. He had a lifelong interest in the area’s German-American history.
Gisselman worked at the Marathon County Public Library until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served as the congregation’s president.
“The time and energy that Gary put into serving the Wausau community over the years is unmatched,” Wausau Mayor Doug Diny said in a statement.
