GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers hosted their first 2025 NFL Draft prospect on Wednesday morning as they begin to slim down their big board.
According to a post on his Instagram, Texas A&M star pass rusher Shemar Stewart, whom many believe will be a top 20 selection, visited Lambeau Field to meet with the Packers for a formal workout and interview. He posted photos on his story from inside Lambeau and marked his location in Green Bay.
Stewart ran an impressive 4.59 40-yard dash at 6’5 and 267 lbs. during the NFL Combine and has become one of the most athletic defenders in this draft class. However, some worry about his lack of production during his three seasons with the Aggies, as he recorded just 4.5 sacks during his collegiate career which is a similar trait to Lukas Van Ness who did not have much production or playing time during his time at Iowa.
The Packers are in need of a pass rusher who can help Rashan Gary and Kenny Clark avoid double teams and get more pressure on the quarterback, as most of Green Bay’s total sacks in 2024 came from non-defensive linemen, making Stewart, who has a high upside, an ideal fit for Jeff Hafley’s defense.
