GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – A possible trade that could send Seattle Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf to Green Bay is growing more likely as the star receiver has reportedly requested to be traded elsewhere.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Metcalf’s representatives and the Seahawks have “agreed to explore options” as the team goes through changes offensively and explores entering a rebuild in 2025.
Metcalf, 27, has been rumored to be the Green Bay Packers’ top trade target this offseason as Fox 13 Seattle’s Corbin K. Smith reported last week that the Packers have been in talks with the Seahawks to complete a trade that would send D.K. Metcalf to Green Bay in exchange for a “high draft pick and young receiver on the roster.”
The trade compensation in the proposed trade may have lessened in recent days, though, after the Washington Commanders were able to acquire 49ers star receiver Deebo Samuel for only a 5th-round pick on Saturday night, and several high-value free agents, including Davante Adams and Tyler Lockett, have been cut by their former teams over the last 24 hours.
Metcalf, who was a 2nd round pick by Seattle in the 2019 NFL Draft, recorded 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns for the Seahawks in 2024 after putting together a stellar 2023 season that included him catching 119 passes for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns.
