MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski announced Julie Lassa as Administrator of the Division of Agricultural Development.
“Julie has decades of experience with the agriculture industry, stakeholder relationships, and leadership,” said Romanski. “DATCP aims to be a resource to the industry and citizens of the state, and I know that Julie’s background and strengths will support her work as she joins the team.”
Lassa grew up on a small family dairy farm in central Wisconsin and has supported agriculture throughout her career. As a Wisconsin legislator, Lassa authored the laws that created the Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin and Farm to School programs. Most recently, Lassa served as Wisconsin State Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development where she focused on strengthening rural communities through investments in housing, community infrastructure, and business development.
“I am extremely pleased to be joining DATCP and continuing to work to advocate for Wisconsin agriculture and new economic opportunities for this key sector of our state’s economy,” said Lassa.
Lassa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her first day as Administrator will be February 18.
