WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The former Riverside Fire Chief accused of child sexual assault and child enticement has been scheduled for a three-day trial on the charges.
Robert Bowen is accused of making inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 18. Investigators say the incidents occurred between June 2023 and May ’24.
He returned to court on Wednesday, where his defense and the state agreed that they are not on track for a plea agreement. Judge Rick Cveykus then scheduled a three-day trial from November 18th through the 20th.
A final pretrial conference will be held on November 4th.
The allegations came to light in the spring of 2024. Bowen was immediately placed on administrative leave from the department and resigned his position for “personal and professional reasons” later that summer. The department has since hired a new Chief.
Bowen faces more than a decade in prison if found guilty on the charges.
