WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Marshfield man accused of killing a woman in Wood County and dumping her body in Price County has pled not guilty to the charges.
Deyvin Castro Gutierrez entered the plea on Thursday. Officials say he killed his roommate, 28-year-old Blanca Jesenia Hernandez Portocarrero, in early November. It’s believed he concealed her body and drove to Price County, where he dumped it along State Highway 13 in the Town of Hackett.
It was discovered as investigators responded to a fire along the highway, which closed the road for several hours.
Castro Gutierrez was arrested about a week later after a joint investigation by Marshfield police and the Price County Sheriff’s Office. Police say he admitted to hitting her and placing his arm across her neck until she stopped breathing.
The 38-year-old is being held on a $10 million bond. The case is scheduled for a clerical update on May 27th, no trial dates have been set.
Investigators have not disclosed a possible motive for the incident.
