MADISON, WI (WSAU) – A former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback has decided where he will play football in 2025.
According to a post on his X account, Tyler Van Dyke has committed to Southern Methodist University (SMU) after spending just one season in Madison and playing just two games with the Badgers before tearing his ACL during the loss to Alabama in September.
Van Dyke threw for 422 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in two starts for Wisconsin. He will reunite with Rhett Lashlee, his former offensive coordinator at Miami in 2021, where he passed for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions, who was named SMU’s head coach in 2024.
In 2024, the Mustangs finished 11-1 before losing to Penn State in the College Football Playoffs’ opening round.
