PLOVER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Firefighters from several fire departments responded to suppress smoke from a Thursday afternoon equipment fire at MPD Pallets that was visible from miles away.
Workers at the factory were evacuated from the scene, and according to Plover incident Chief Mark Deaver, a dryer that was drying caused the wood pallets to catch fire before they were scheduled to be sent out, which is what caused the incident.
“When we got here, there was light smoke showing, and when we got into the building, there was a heavy fire load from the pallets that were in the dryer, and so we had to open that trailer up to extinguish the fire,” Chief Deaver stated.
The structure is not regarded as a complete loss, and nobody was hurt during the incident.
