GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have made their move of the trade deadline, agreeing to deal one of their most experienced pass rushers to the AFC.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, pass rusher Preston Smith has been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, with details on the return to Green Bay or expected cap space relief being unknown at this time.
Smith, 31, has played in the NFL for ten seasons and signed with the Packers from Washington back in 2019 on a four-year, $52 million deal that included a $16 million signing bonus.
Smith has 2.5 sacks and six tackles so far this season and will join a talented Pittsburgh defense that’s currently ranked ninth in total defense and fourth in the league against the run.
