PHOENIX, AZ (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers let two leads slip away and lost an 11-10 game in 10 innings to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday in Phoenix.
The Brewers were down 5-0 before starting their comeback with a three-run homer from Jackson Chourio in the 5th inning. They tied the game in the 6th on a two run shot from Eric Haase. Later in the innings Willy Adames had a two-run double and the Brewers led 7-5.
Sal Frelick had a RBI single in the 7th that built the lead to 8-5.
Arizona scored twice in the 7th and once in the 8th to tie the game at 8.
It stayed that way until the 10th when Chourio came through again with a two-out triple that scored two runs.
But the Brewers bullpen couldn’t hold the lead. With Devin Williams not available, Jared Koenig gave up three runs on four hits in an inning plus to take the loss.
The Brewers are 10 games up on the Cubs and their magic number to clinch the Central Division crown remains at 3. They host Philadelphia tonight…pregame show at 6:05 on WSAU.
