GRAND MARSH, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – An 81-year-old will be charged after hitting a bicyclist with his vehicle in Adams County Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 2:30pm Thursday the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a subject advising that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in the 3200 block of 5th Lane.
The caller said the driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued northbound on 5th Lane., according to an Adams County news release. Deputies arrived on scene and began rendering aid until first responders and EMS personnel arrived on scene.

Deputies were able to identify the make and model of the vehicle involved based on evidence collected at the scene.
Through the investigation, police located the vehicle at a home near the scene of the hit-and-run. The driver of the vehicle was identified as George T. Jones Jr. 81, of Grand Marsh. Jones Jr. was interviewed, and it was determined charges will be submitted to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.
The bicyclist was transported to the hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The case is still under investigation.
