WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office will host a specialized response team training session on Wednesday in the Town of Easton.
The training will occur in the Miller Forest Unit near River Edge Road, north of County Road Z. Sheriff’s officers will be joined by the Marathon County SWAT team, bomb squad, and tactical communications teams in training.
Residents will notice officers dressed in camouflage, OD green, or other tactical uniforms using police equipment. Firearms and other weapons will be involved, but there will not be any live rounds or ammunition fired.
There will also be no emergency in the area. The situation will involve simulated events that are carefully managed to ensure the safety of those involved and the public.
Training is scheduled to run from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
