MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Kyle McClellan posted yet another shutout as the #6 Badger men’s hockey team defeated Ohio State 3-0 on Friday in Madison.
The Senior made 29 saves in the win. Goals came from Zach Schulz in the first period and Lucius Cruz and Christian Fitzgerald in the third.
The goal from Schulz was his first career NCAA tally. Cruz scored on an empty Buckeye net to seal the win.
McClellan is now tied for the NCAA lead in shutouts with three. The defensive performance also lowered the Badgers’ NCAA-best goals-against average to 1.73 per game.
Game two of the Big Ten series between the Badgers and the Buckeyes is tonight. Pregame on WSAU will begin at 7:30, with face-off at 8. It’s part of a Badgers doubleheader that begins with the men’s basketball team taking on Marquette at 11:30 AM, pregame coverage for that will begin at 10:30.
