STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Local cooling facilities are open as a result of The National Weather Service issuing an excessive heat warning for Portage County on Wednesday.
The Heat Index is expected to rise to 105 to 110 degrees on Wednesday, and a heat advisory is in force from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The cooling centers request that you get in touch ahead of time to confirm availability before visiting the facility. People can find the centers at the Village of Plover Municipal Center, Rosholt Public Library, Jensen Community Center, and Portage County Public Library.
The National Weather Service stated that over 66 million Americans are expected to face severe temperatures over the course of this week.
