WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — One of the teens charged in connection with the baseball bat beating of another has had a sentencing date set in Marathon County court after reaching a plea deal on Thursday.
Jordan Meyer has pled guilty to one count of child abuse by use of a dangerous weapon in exchange for having a second count thrown out by the judge. A pre-sentence investigation will now be completed ahead of an October 27th sentencing hearing.
Meyer had previously pled not guilty to the charges.
Police say Meyer and three others, 17-year-old Michael Hrobsky, and 15-year-old Brendan Griffin along with an unidentified 16-year-old boy ambushed another teen over a drug deal. The teens say the victim stole $40 worth of drugs from Hrobsky, and the attack was retaliation.
Meyer was in court Thursday for his final pre-trial conference. His sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin at 9 AM and last two hours.
