Need to hear a friendly voice? Students from the University of Illinois are ready to sing for you! Volunteers are set up at the school’s annual Dial-A-Carol hotline. It is free and open 24 hours a day at 217-332-1882.
One singer, named Arthur Hall, says, “I really like to sing. I’m not that great at it, but it’s mostly for holiday spirit, you know, and I think it’s really fun when you get little kids. Yesterday I got a little kid, ‘are you Santa?’ ‘No, but I can pass on a message for him,’ you know. Just stuff like that, it’s really nice.”
