STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The man suspected of stealing a woman’s car and driving off in broad daylight may avoid trial.
Court records show William Gentry has a plea and sentencing hearing scheduled for November 15. He faces charges of armed robbery and operating a motor vehicle without consent.

Gentry is said to have approached the woman in the parking lot of Target, demanding her keys and threatening to stab her if she didn’t hand them over. He then took her keys and drove off in the vehicle, appearing to head northbound on Interstate 39.
Officers were able to track the vehicle to a hotel in Springfield, Missouri two days later. Police in that city were able to arrest him without incident.
The 52-year-old from Soddy Daisy, TN was extradited back to Wisconsin and has been held on bond.
