CRANDON, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – The Crandon Fire Department received a grant from the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation yesterday (MON) to purchase new safety equipment.
It used the money to buy a glass cutting saw, extrication gloves, and fire-resistant suits.
Brennan Cook is the fire chief. He says grants like these provide a big boost to the department’s relatively small budget. “This grant will be a huge boost to us and allow us to work smarter, faster, and safer when helping others. Grants and relationships like this help us to have the tools that we need in a moment’s notice to help someone in their greatest moment of need.”
WPS is awarding a total of $50,000 in grants to fire departments across north-central Wisconsin this year as part of its Rewarding Responders Grant Program.
In northern Wisconsin, the Laona, Little Rice, and Sugar Camp fire departments also received grants.
