Marathon Cty Historical Society -Ain't She Sweet An Exhibit, Women in the 1920's
Woodson History Center, 410 Mcindoe Street, Wausau, WI, USA
Marathon County Historical Society present Ain’t She Sweet – An Exhibit of Women in the 1920s. Explore a time where the role of women was evolving and stereotypes were being challenged.
The 1920s provided women with increased opportunities and freedoms. There were more jobs available for women, participation in sports was made easier with less restrictive clothing and women received the vote in 1920. Women’s clubs and organizations helped both working women and housewives, providing a much needed support system. Our exhibit looks at the 1920s woman through fashion, accessories and most of all their stories.
The Woodson History Center is located at 410 Mcindoe Street, Wausau, Wisconsin. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 9 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 1 pm to 4:30 pm. Admission is free.
For more information, please contact the Marathon County Historical Society at 715-842-5750, email us at info@marathoncountyhistory.org, or visit our website at www.marathoncountyhistory.org

Stewart Park, 508 North 10th Street, Wausau, WI, USA
The Comedy of Errors is probably Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy. The story chronicles the misadventures of two (count ‘em – two!) sets of identical twins who were separated at birth in a shipwreck. Shenanigans of the hilarious sort ensue when mistaken identities, pun-filled word play, slapstick humor, and even a long lost love rock the little town of Ephesus! Pitch-Out Cancer
Matthiae Fields, 201360 St John's Rd, Mosinee, WI
“Pitch-Out Cancer”, taking place on August 23rd & 24th, 2025, at Crystal Pines Matthiae Field (201360 St. Johns Rd, Mosinee). This will be our first annual event, dedicated to raising funds for the Cancer Care Fund at Marshfield Clinic and this event will attract participants from all over the state for horseshoes and corn-hole players.
Originally, this event was planned for last year, but due to my daughter and daughter-in-law’s diagnosis of breast cancer, I was unable to proceed. Now, more than ever, I understand firsthand how critical financial and emotional support is for cancer patients and their families, which is why this event is so important to me and our community.

Dusty Slay at the Grand Theatre
The Grand Theater, North 4th Street, Wausau, WI, USA
Long hair, tobacco, over-sized glasses and a trucker hat, Dusty Slay is the self-effacing bourbon-voiced Southern comedian next door with a knack for observational, blue-collar humor and the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking.
He grew up the son of a single mom in an Alabama trailer park and evokes laughs about everything from Cracker Barrel to his aversion to soap. The 40-year-old Nashville native is a mainstay on the country music scene, making his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2019 – the youngest at the time, and adding dozens of appearances in the historic Circle ever since.
He has also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live, has a Comedy Central special to his credit and just released his first hour-long Netflix special "Workin' Man" that he filmed about three hours from home, at the Bijou theater in Knoxville, Tennessee.
With almost 20 years of eliciting guffaws through his laidback observations, comedic cadence and conversational style, Dusty is just getting started bringing his brand of relatable working-class comedy to audiences coast to coast.
Slay’s recently announced 35-show “The Night Shift Tour” – coming to the Grand Theater in Wausau November 21 -- is in support of the new special.
