STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) Kristin Lapree of Wausau was sentenced to three years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision for stealing from her place of work.
4 additional years of her sentence are being withheld.
Lapree stole more than $700,000 from Rettler Corporation in Stevens Point while she worked as the company’s bookkeeper. The thefts began in 2012 when Lapree forged the CEO’s signature to write checks to herself.
Lapree was found guilty of using the money on rent for a home on a golf course along with personal items like Louis Vuitton bags.
The District Attorney says this was one of the largest thefts from a business in Portage County’s history.
