MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Four of the nine puppies that were left in a dumpster in Marshfield two years ago were reunited at a fundraiser for the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter this weekend.
The Paws for Brittany event on Saturday saw the brothers and sisters reunited in honor of Marshfield native Brittany Zimmerman who was murdered more than ten years ago while she was a student at UW Madison.
Organizers told WAOW Zimmerman loved animals.
All nine of the puppies were eventually adopted, some staying in Central Wisconsin. Mark Theobald, the man who found the dogs and adopted one of them, told WAOW it was heartwarming to see them doing so well.
Theobald found the puppies tied up in a bag in a dumpster behind a Marshfield business two years ago. Their owner eventually pled no contest to a count of intentional animal abandonment and was given a jail sentence along with probation.
