MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Lincoln County woman accused of her 3rd and 4th OWI may have a plea deal with prosecutors.
Court records show a plea and sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 15th, 2027, for Connie Jones of Tomahawk, who was pulled over on suspicion of an OWI last October after multiple reports of a vehicle going north in the southbound lanes of US 51.
Officers caught up with the vehicle near mile marker 208, but the driver did not immediately pull over. After about three miles, they stopped, and officers immediately noticed signs of impairment, including an open bottle of alcohol. She initially agreed to a field sobriety test, but later told officers she wouldn’t be able to complete it. She also told officers she didn’t know she was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Officers later discovered that Jones was out on bond for another OWI charge, which had been filed in July 2025.
In addition to the January 15th plea date, the judge has also scheduled a trial for January 26th and 27th, if necessary.
No one was injured in the October incident, though officers noted that several vehicles had to move over to avoid a collision.
