Heather Zynda
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 50-year-old Central Wisconsin woman may have a plea deal with the state for multiple counts of animal abuse.
Court records show Heather Zynda is scheduled for a plea and sentencing hearing on April 14th for seven counts: two felony charges for mistreatment of animals, causing death, and five misdemeanors for intentional mistreatment of animals.
Investigators say Zynda, the former owner of Crossroads K9 in Kronenwetter, was keeping dogs in unsanitary conditions. That included limited access to proper food and water.
Her partner, Sean Dumais, is also facing charges for animal abuse in a separate case tied to his role at Central Wisconsin K9 in Schofield, where officers also found dogs living in unsanitary conditions without access to food, water, and exercise.
Zynda faces up to seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines on the felony counts. She is free on a signature bond with several conditions, including not working with animals.
