TOWN OF GREEN VALLEY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer-involved death in the Town of Green Valley. The incident occurred on the morning of March 10.
Deputies from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 2300 block of State Highway 22 around 1:41 AM. They found a man locked inside a bathroom who claimed to have a gun. When non-lethal force failed, the man advanced on officers with what they believed to be a firearm, leading deputies to fire at the man.
Emergency services were called, and life-saving measures were attempted. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died. No officers or other individuals were hurt in the incident.
The event was recorded on the deputies’ body cameras. The deputy involved is on administrative leave, per agency policy.
