Georgia Ring
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids woman has pleaded no contest to her 8th OWI and will serve prison time.
Georgia Ring entered the plea on Thursday and was immediately found guilty by a judge. Her sentence includes six years in the state prison system; three years in prison, and another three on extended supervision.
Ring was pulled over for a routine traffic stop in January, and officers immediately noticed signs of impairment. She was arrested and held on a probation violation, along with the OWI charges.
Additional terms of her sentence include absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol, and the installation of an ignition interlock device on all of her vehicles.
The 62-year-old has previous OWI convictions dating back to 2009. She was also convicted of a felony count of recklessly endangering safety in 1998 and served probation as part of a withheld sentence.
Ring had been facing up to 12.5 years in prison on the charge.
