Mathew Samson
MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A Marshfield School Board candidate already facing felony counts for child and domestic abuse is now accused of having sexual contact with a young girl.
WAOW TV reports that Mathew Samson is accused of sexually assaulting a person who was under the age of 12 on at least two occasions between May 2022 and November 2023. Court documents say the victim was under the age of 10 and didn’t tell anyone at the time because she didn’t want Samson to get in trouble.

She decided to come forward after Samson was jailed earlier this month for child abuse and domestic abuse. He was scheduled to enter a plea to those charges today; instead, he made an initial appearance on the new charges and remains jailed on a $500,000 bond.
The previous charges, filed on February 3rd, stem from two separate criminal complaints. In one instance, the 41-year-old is accused of kicking a child in the stomach. He’s also accused of threatening himself and another woman with a gun during an argument.
Samson is due back in court on March 2nd, a hearing that will cover all three cases. His name will appear on Tuesday’s school board primary ballot in Marshfield. If found guilty, he would be ineligible to hold office as a convicted felon.
