Randall Harris Jr.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — After a mistrial was declared last week, court proceedings are back underway for the Milwaukee man accused of killing his father in Wisconsin Rapids last fall.
Randall Harris Jr faces one count of homicide in the death of 56-year-old Randall Harris Sr in October 2025 during a heated argument. Investigators say Harris Sr was shot and stabbed multiple times. Another family member was injured in the incident.
The younger Harris was immediately named a suspect and was arrested near the scene. He now faces one count of intentional homicide and one count of recklessly endangering safety.
His trial began Monday, February 2nd, but came to a screeching halt two days later when the judge declared a Brady violation. Meaning prosecutors suppressed evidence favorable to the defendant.
After the issue was corrected, both sides agreed to restart the trial on Monday with a new jury. They were seated by 1 PM, and opening statements began just before 3 PM.
The trial is scheduled to run through Wednesday, February 18th. The 34-year-old faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty on the homicide count alone.
