STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Portage County Treasurer Pam Przybelski is advising residents to be mindful of a recent U.S. Postal Service policy change affecting postmarks, which could impact property tax payments.
In August 2025, the Postal Service began postmarking mail at regional sorting centers instead of upon initial handling. This change may delay postmarks by several days, Przybelski said.
To avoid late payments, Przybelski recommends mailing tax payments early or using E-check options online or via phone. Payment options and details are included in the tax bill mailing, and further information can be obtained from the Treasurer’s Office.
Most municipal tax payments can also be made on the county’s website, except for specific towns and the City of Stevens Point.
