Rotary club Winter Wonderland in Marshfield, WI
MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — There will be three bonus days to this year’s Rotary Winter Wonderland season.
Over 200 people helped decorate this year’s display, enabling organizers to assemble the entire thing in about two weeks. Coordinator Danielle Nystrom says that with the added need among local food pantries this year, it makes sense to open early. “We are encouraging people to be generous this year. The need is high right now. If we can provide some additional donations ahead of Thanksgiving week, I think that’s really our goal.
We’ve talked to a lot of our food pantries and their shelves are empty right now,” added Nystrom.
Preview showings will be held Friday through Sunday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM each night. Regular hours will begin on Friday, November 28th, through New Year’s Eve.
The Rotary Club took over the Wildwood Zoo in mid-October. Nystrom says setup for the display, which includes well over one million lights, usually takes about 4-6 weeks to complete.
Nystrom says you can expect some new displays and old favorites with new twists. “It may be the same lights, but we put them up in a different pattern or add some different display [pices.] We like to keep things fresh and new for our guests every year.”
