WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Some downtown Wausau traffic headaches have been cleared up as the city prepares to show off the Foundry on 3rd development later this month.
Mayor Doug Diny says Washington Street is now open for two-way traffic near the Foundry, just in time for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony in two weeks. The project was designed to be a “shot in the arm” for downtown businesses as they prepare to welcome more residents to the area. “Jefferson Street will [also] open soon, so you’ll be able to drive in there and right up to the Children’s Imaginerium. It’s a real catalyst project,” said Diny.
At the same time, Gorman and Company is completing the Westside Commons project just across the river. Diny says the city’s inspection department is finalizing the occupancy certificate for that building. “That’s one of the fastest buildings I’ve seen [go up] in town. You’ll start seeing people in there very soon.”
The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce will hold a special ribbon cutting at the Foundry on October 23rd at 4:00 PM. The event will feature group tours of the building and provide networking opportunities for local business leaders.
