WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The Farmer’s Market season is winding down in Weston, but Village leaders are working towards next year.
That includes where the goods will be sold, as developers are finalizing a deal for a new coffee house and ice cream shop at the current Farmer’s Market site.
Administrator Jami Gebert says the village has been looking at other locations, such as the large soccer/rugby field at Kennedy Park. “It’s of interest obviously because it’s in a community center, or the center of a neighborhood. We think it would achieve some walkability, so people can walk to get there. Also, there is a natural flow of things that are already happening there.”
Developers are planning a stand-alone Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins at the current location. Gebert says they will finish the season at the Schofield Avenue/Camp Phillips Road site while finalizing plans for next year’s location.
If that is Kennedy Park, the area would require some modifications, including temporary electrical hookups for food trucks. Gebert says they are willing to make those arrangements to keep the community asset alive. “It has a strong following and we want to keep it strong. We will make that work.”
