STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point Professional Firefighters Union has raised more than $13,300 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the annual “Fill the Bood” campaign.
Firefighters took donations in late August through a two-day campaign, asking residents to make donations at two intersections —near Main and Division, and Clark and Division. All the money goes to the local MDA to support research and educational resources.
“With the continued support of Mayor Wiza, Chief Moody, the City Council, the Police & Fire Commission, and the generosity of the Stevens Point community, we would not be able to raise as much as we do.” Says Jennifer Petkoff, Director of the Stevens Point Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation, and a Fire Fighter with the Stevens Point Fire Department. “For our Local’s size and money raised, we rank in the top 10 Fire Fighters Union in the State, by the Muscular Dystrophy Association…which is truly amazing and humbling.”
Money raised also supports seven MDA Care Centers throughout Wisconsin, including one located at Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield.
