WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Walter Alexander Foundation proposed a new statue in the RiverLife area to commemorate the logging history of the city.
The city’s Parks and Rec committee approved the proposal on Tuesday. “They really liked this proposal and they want to bring it to the city,” said City Planner Brad Lenz
The sculpture is meant to complement another sculpture on Fulton Street, which the Foundation also donated money for.
The proposal still needs approval from other groups, including the city’s Plan Commission and the full City Council. Once the approval is received, they will begin casting for it.
It’s estimated to take about 11 months to complete and another month to install.
