MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-8 on Tuesday night at American Family Field. An Isaac Collins sac-fly scored pinch runner Brandon Lockridge with the game winner.
The two teams combined for 26 hits on this night. Milwaukee had a 6-0 lead after scoring five runs in the 3rd. Arizona battled back with three runs in the 4th, three in the 7th and two in the 8th that tied the game at 8.
Jacob Misiorowski started for Milwaukee and struck out 10 over five innings. He gave up three runs on four hits and one walk. Both Tobias Meyers and Jared Koenig struggled out of the bullpen but Shelby Miller pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 to finish up and pick up the win.
William Contreras went 3-4 with a home run and two RBI’s He also singled in the 9th starting the game winning rally. Brice Turang hit his 15th home run of the season and drove in two. Anthony Siegler had two RBIs while Andrew Vaughn, Blake Perkins and Collins had single RBIs.
The Cubs lost in San Francisco so Milwaukee now has a 6 1/2 game lead in the Central Division. They face the Diamondbacks again tonight…pre game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
