WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A young adult from Wisconsin Rapids has been charged with three felony counts in connection with a December 2024 crash that killed a 17-year-old from Vesper.
Court records show Trenton Lawry, now 18 years old, faces counts for homicide by negligent use of a vehicle, reckless driving- causing great bodily harm, and negligent injury. Together, those counts carry a maximum of 19.5 years in prison.
He’s accused of failing to stop at a stop sign while trying to cross Highway 10 near Auburndale. His passenger, later identified as Kasey Ramthun, died at the scene.
Lawry was 17 at the time of the crash. He, along with the driver of the second vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The most serious count, homicide by negligent use of a vehicle, includes a maximum sentence of 10 years. Lawry entered a not guilty plea in court on Monday and is free on a $100,000 signature bond. No further court action was immediately scheduled.
