Gloriann Doyle
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Sentencing is scheduled for the former Town of Bergen Clerk who pleaded guilty to stealing public funds.
Gloriann Doyle will be sentenced on October 27th, when she faces more than 35 years in prison
Doyle pled guilty to stealing thousands from the town’s checkbooks while she served as Clerk. She said she had fallen behind on bills, including her mortgage, and was using the funds to catch up.
Town officials noticed irregularities in the books between July 2024 and January. She was removed as Clerk earlier this year and lost her re-election bid to a write-in candidate during the April 1st election.
The 65-year-old was facing nearly a dozen counts, but pleaded guilty to six as part of a deal reached earlier this month.
