Milwaukee Brewers
WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Washington Nationals in dominating fashion with an 8-2 win on Saturday and a 14-3 win on Sunday. They also won on Friday night.
The Brewers banged out 52 hits in the sweep, the most hits in a three game series in Milwaukee history and the first time it’s been done in the major leagues since the Brooklyn Dodgers did it in 1950.
On Saturday Christian Yelich hit his 21st homer of the season as part of a three hit day with two RBIs. Brice Turang also had three hits and an RBI. Issac Collins drove in two runs while Brandon Lockridge and Blake Perkins also had RBIs.
Brandon Woodruff gave up two runs over six innings with eight Ks and one walk to pick up the win.
Sunday it was a sixteen hit parade and a seven run 7th inning broke the game open.
Turang led the way with two home runs and four RBIs. Joey Ortiz also drove in four runs and Lockridge, the newest Brewer, stayed hot with two hits and three RBIs. Caleb Durbin and Yelich also drove in runs.
Logan Henderson got the start in place of Jacob Misiorowski and gave up one run and three hits over 4 1/3 innings. Aaron Ashby picked up the win in relief. Misiorowski went on the Il with a knee contusion after taking a line drive off the leg in his previous start.
The Brewers have the best record in baseball at 67-44 and will take on Atlanta tonight. pre-game show at 5:40 on WSAU.
