WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – Congressman Tom Tiffany says he won’t decide whether to run for governor until “after July.”
Rep. Tiffany has teased at a possible gubernatorial campaign for weeks. His most recent social media post shows him on a snow covered lake holding a fish. The post says “All future Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates prove they know how to hold a fish.”
There are two other Republicans in the race: Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, and Whitefish Bay businessman and former Navy SEAL Bill Berrien. Incumbent Tony Evers also hasn’t decided whether to seek a third term. Earlier this month Evers said a decision “is still a few weeks away.”
Tiffany, a conservative Republican, is currently in his third term from Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district, which stretches from Wausau to the Northwoods.
Tiffany has purchased the web site Tomtiffanyforgovernor.com. Such moves are not unusual while considering a run. Tiffany also purchased a web site for a possible U.S. Senate run in 2024, but did not enter the race.
