MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Mosinee police and fire, and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department were called to a water rescue on the Wisconsin River in Mosinee.
On Saturday around 5:30pm there was a report of three people stranded on an island in the middle of the river. Their boat had capsized and they were able to swim to the island near the Main Street Bridge. One person suffered minor injuries.
A DNR jet boat was able to ferry the people off the island.
It’s unclear how the boat capsized. There is fast-moving water in the area near the Mosinee paper mill.
