PLOVER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A project many years in the making finally came to fruition Tuesday morning in the Village of Plover.
Village officials, along with leaders from the Heart of Wisconsin Pickleball Association, Sentry Insurance officials and others, cut the ribbon on the more than 35,000 square foot facility.
It’s located in Lake Pacawa Park.
The community led effort features 12 fully wheelchair-accessible, lighted courts, making it a destination for pickleball players from all over the state. “This brings people in from the village and well beyond, which is very unique. This is the one park in the village outside of the sports complex where we’re encouraging everyone from throughout Wisconsin to come and see what Plover has to offer,” said Steve Kunst, Village of Plover Administrator.
The courts feature plenty of room between court baselines and the fences. There’s also windscreens surrounding the facility, and bleachers with canopies to keep spectators cool.
