SWAT Team training on Lake DuBay, WI (WAOW)
LAKE DuBAY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Marathon County Sherriff’s Office conducted SWAT training on Lake Dubay to ready the team’s response to water-based tactical operations.
The training used multiple areas of the lake, including the southern portion and a nearby island for hypothetical scenarios on the water. The boats carrying SWAT team officers was closely monitored by Marathon County law enforcement using drone cameras.
“What we did was put some of our operators on a boat, and they will get driven out into the lake and cast off the boat,” said Marathon County Lt. Will Stuart. “They will make an approach to an island, where we have a scenario going on, perhaps a hostage call.”
The training allows the Sherriff’s Department to think ahead and enhance their SWAT team’s preparation for water-based tactical operations.
