MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Coach Greg Gard has announced the promotion of Marc VandeWettering to MBB General Manager.
VandeWettering takes on a relatively new role in college athletics, which involves managing the current roster, recruiting visits, and revenue-sharing strategy.
“I’m extremely happy for Marc and our program,” Gard said. “He has worked tirelessly to make us better every day and has helped us navigate this new era of college basketball very successfully. Marc has been a central figure in our evolution as a program and has already been handling many of the personnel tasks for the last couple years. Looking to the future, I’m excited to have Marc officially elevated to this administrative role and know that he will help drive our sustained success.”
He’s no stranger to the UW program. VandeWettering has served alongside Gard in some capacity since 2017.
VandeWettering graduated from Kaukauna High School, where he was a two-time letter winner for the Galloping Ghosts. He also graduated as class valedictorian.
The Badgers also officially announced their game with Villanova at Fiserv Forum on December 11th. Tickets for what’s being dubbed the “Milwaukee Hoops Showdown” will go on sale in late September, with priority access given to current Badger MBB season ticket holders and boosters.
The game is the first of a two-game contract with the Wildcats. The second game takes place in December 2026 in Philadelphia. Wisconsin is playing a similar series with BYU, with the Badgers and Cougars meeting in Salt Lake City this season and in Milwaukee next year.
Wisconsin’s complete non-conference schedule remains under wraps for now, but some reports have indicated that the Badgers will open the regular season on November 3rd against Campbell University (NC) at the Kohl Center. The Fighting Camels went 15-17 last year, competing in the Coastal Athletic Association. A home date with UW-Milwaukee is also said to be on the docket for December 30th.
