WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A bench warrant has been issued for a Wausau man who had more than half a pound of methamphetamine in his vehicle during a routine traffic stop two weeks ago.
Court records indicate Dylan Hanson did not appear for a review hearing on July 9th, leading Judge Douglas Bauman to issue a bench warrant for his arrest. Investigators say the 31-year-old was pulled over on June 30th for a routine traffic stop. K9 officer Lowkey alerted his handler to the drugs, leading them to uncover some 320 grams of meth hidden in the vehicle.
Judge Bauman indicated that the hearing was properly noticed prior to issuing the warrant.
Hanson faces charges for possessing more than 50 grams of meth with the intent to distribute and two other drug-related offenses, which could land him in prison for more than 40 years if he’s convicted.
He also faces the possibility of additional prison time due to his status as a repeat offender. His record includes convictions for burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property in 2011 and burglary and credit card fraud in 2021.
Hanson was scheduled for a pretrial conference on August 20th. That’s been put on hold while the warrant is active.
