Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Trevor Megill struck out the side in the top of the 10th, and Jackson Chourio brought home placed runner Sal Frelick in the bottom of the frame to secure a 3-2 win and complete a series sweep of the NL West-leading LA Dodgers on Wednesday.
Those 10th-inning heroics were made possible by former Chicago White Sox Anderw Vaughn, who brought home Issac Collins in the 9th to tie the game at 2. It was Vaughn’s third appearance for the Crew since he was acquired from the South Siders for P Aaron Civale and immediately optioned to AAA Nashville. Milwaukee recalled him on July 7th.
Megill was credited with the win. Starter Jose Quintana went six innings and allowed just two hits and one earned run, but took a no-decision.
Christian Yelich and Caleb Durbin each recorded two hits in the win, accounting for half of Milwaukee’s eight hits on the afternoon.
Brice Turang finished 1-4 with a single and a strikeout.
Milwaukee improves to 53-40 on the season and 6-4 in their last ten. Los Angeles extends their losing streak to six and falls to 56-38.
The Brewers will take Thursday off and welcome the Washington Nationals for a three-game set starting Friday. It’ll be the last series before the All-Star break.
